VACANCY: SECRETARY

This is a voluntary position


We are looking for a knowledgeable and highly organised Secretary to run the administration of the UK A Cappella Society.


The Secretary will be responsible for a number of administrative areas that will be fundamental to the smooth running of the charity:

  • Ensuring that the charity produces the relevant paperwork necessary to comply with the Charity Commission’s guidelines


  • Organising paperwork and files


  • Maintaining databases and documents


  • Taking minutes at trustee meetings


  • Managing charity software accounts



The Secretary will be a key member of the core management team and as such will work closely with the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Treasurer in order to ensure the success of the charity.


Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a legal background (this could be either as a lawyer or a law student) to ensure that our paperwork is compliant with the Charity Commission and to help the management team to guide decisions on behalf of the charity. You don’t necessarily need to have a cappella experience, but an interest in the art form is essential.


We are looking for a candidate who is highly organised, proficient in administrative software such as G-Suite and Microsoft Office, and quick to learn new software such as Asana, Trello, and monday.com. We’d love it if our Secretary proactively came up with new ideas about how to improve processes to help the charity become more efficient, and showed a keen interest in all areas of the charity’s operation to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive standard for our administration across all areas.
